PRESSING FOR THE WORD

SCRIPTURE: And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret, Luke 5:1

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Your level of hunger determines your degree of satisfaction with God.

From the anchor scripture, it is evident that the multitude pressed on Jesus, not for miracles, healings, financial provision, or even for food; but they pressed on Him for the Word. And as they pressed on Him, Jesus stood. This implies that God never ignores the desires of the desperate. He never undermines the yearning of the hungry.

Matthew 5:6 says, ‘Blessed are they who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.’

Your level of hunger determines your degree of satisfaction with God. A lack of hunger for God is a reason for spiritual frustration. People who do not hunger for God can never be filled by God.

The Bible says in Hosea 6:3, Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.

Beloved, stop running from pillar to post looking for miracles and human favour; settle down and study the Word of God. As you do this, God will settle you in Jesus’ Name.

Remember this: Your level of hunger determines your degree of satisfaction with God.
