Mrs. Lillian Benedict.
Righteousness is depending only on God to help you live right. Abraham believed God and it was counted unto him as righteousness. Note:
Righteousness is absolute trust in the Lord. The arm of flesh fails and has failed many. When you brag in your own efforts you fail.
Example:
A classic example of one who lived right is Daniel - Daniel 1:8.
He understood that his body is the temple of the living God.
Every temple is sacred thus, Jesus was incensed when he saw money changers in the temple of God and he chased them away.
Daniel took the decision to be righteous. Thus, righteousness is a decision. Romans 6:16 notes that whom you yield yourself to you become servant to.
Ensure that you are constantly transformed in the presence of God. Let the Word that you are consistently exposed to change you.
The righteous is bold. Daniel was not afraid to enter into the den of lions and God sealed the mouth of the lions. Daniel lived an exemplary life and resisted every temptation that was set against him
How righteousness works in the life of a believer:
The spirit of God is activated by the life of holiness. He is called the Holy Spirit because He is holy. You cannot join the spirit of God to a harlot - 1 Corinthians 6:19. The Holy Spirit cannot lead you astray.
Conclusion
The way of uprightness is the way of power. It is the way of supernatural empowerment. Every invitation to righteousness is an invitation to righteous living.
Counsel
1. Continually rely on the grace of God - Romans 6:1-5. This grace is your grace as a child of God. Note that you have no power of your own.
2. Live for God one day at a time and trust him for daily victory.
Romans 6:2-4 - Shall we continue to live in sin because grace abounds? Grace helps you to live above sin not in sin. Grace empowers you to stand against temptations. Don't be deceived to believe that you can continue to live in sin and escape judgement because of the availability of grace.
It is critical that you surrender your life to God/Jesus and receive the newness of spirit that will enable you live in righteousness
